A present is the transfer of something to someone else, perhaps flowers, a book, a DVD, a music cd, a ring, watch, car, voucher or even money without the need for anything given in return. People give and receive presents on birthdays. People buy presents to give each other at Christmas although this doesn't seem to be keeping to the true value of Christmas.
