Your First PowerPoint Presentation - Computers - Software

Microsoft PowerPoint can be a very useful tool when creating presentations. Professionals and students often turn to PowerPoint to achieve a presentable well done presentation. Learning how to use PowerPoint can be tough due to the technologies involved. Creating a slide is the first thing to learn. There will be a blank title slide on the screen when PowerPoint is first opened. The title slide will be already designed for you with where to place the title and the authors of the presentation. If the background color of the slide needs to be changed there are template backgrounds. However, custom backgrounds can be made using a solid color or picture. To create a new slide there is a button in the menu that says "Create a new slide." This button will allow the user to create a new slide in which ever template needed. Pictures can be added by cut and paste or by using the menu to insert a picture which is saved on the computer. Graphs and other diagram photos help make a pre sentation look great and show more than just words can say. PowerPoint has many other unique features which can help make a presentation entertaining and exciting. The program has what are called slide transitions. These transitions allow the user to determine how to switch from one slide to the next during the presentation. There are many different transitions to choose from. The same one or different ones can be used throughout. Also, sounds can be used during slide transitions. Another unique thing about the PowerPoint program is the ability to fly pictures and lines of text to the slide. This is a great feature that allows the audience of the presentation to view only what the presenter wants the audience to see. If the presenter wants to discuss the slide's main topics one at a time it helps to be able to regulate when certain things appear on the slide. Videos can also be added to the slides. This also helps to enhance a presentation. The more interactive the presentat ion is the more the audience will focus on what the presenter is trying to say or show. For students, it is best to keep the audience interested. Software such as PowerPoint has many uses, the most important of which, is presentations. Whether for class or for work it is a useful and versatile tool. It allows the user to do almost anything necessary to enhance a presentation if used correctly.
