Have a good friend that you want to give unique gift sets to for their birthday, holiday or even graduation, but not sure what to get them? Why not be a little creative and make something for them instead of going out and buying something from the department store?
Making handmade soaps is a great way of making some unique gifts to give. You just need a little bit of creativity and the right items and you're set. It's not very hard to do and a lot of fun. You'll just need to get some glycerin soap, dyes for soap, molds, measuring cup, a coffee stirrer and a sharp knife.
Take the glycerin and cut off two or three pre-measured chunks of it and put it into the measuring cup. Then microwave the soap for 20 seconds and then for 10 second intervals till the soap is completely melted. Add the colors that you want. Just add a few drops of the color you prefer and stir.
Take your soap and pour into your mold. Put aside to harden for about an hour. In the meantime clean out your measuring cup and start over making another bar in a different color and different mold. After you have made all the soap you want and they are cooled off pop them out of the molds. If they stick, put them in the freezer for about 10 minutes and try to pop them out again.
If your friend or friends love necklaces a good idea might be to make some necklace hangers they can hang on their walls and keep their necklaces from getting tangled. You are going to need some sturdy cardboard, scissors, glue, some material, quilt batting, picture hangers, hooks used for cups and lace. Jewellery gifts are also a great idea.
Cut the heart shape out of your cardboard. Then take some batting and cut it into the same shape as your cardboard. Then take the material that you are using and cut it just slightly bigger than the batting and the cardboard and place it over both tightly.
Take some small clips or clothes pins and clip down the material and then glue material to the back of the heart. Let it dry before you move on. After it's dried put in the hooks on the front, add the hanger to the back and put on the lace with some glue.
Jeweled votive candle holders are an easy project to make as well. You just need some baby food jars, glitter glue, jewels with flat backs, paint brush, white glue, regular glitter and some ribbon.
Put some glitter glue on the jar and then add a jewel to the glue and push down onto the jar. Do this all around the jar until you feel you have enough jewels on the jar. Once you have done this and it's dried, take some glue and your paint brush and put glue all over the jar around the jewels and then sprinkle glitter all over the jar.
After everything has dried, add some colorful ribbon around the neck of the jar and add a votive candle to the jar and you will then have your own unique gifts to give to your friend or friends.
