Seminar Topics- Tips for Topic Selection - Education

A student is expected to present a seminar or do a project on some topic of his choice at the end of his or her educational career. Usually this is by the end of one's graduation or preliminary studies.

It is necessary to succeed that you choose the right topic. Usually the topics are assigned by the lecturers while for some they have the liberty to choose a seminar or project topic of their choice.

If you are someone who is lucky enough to get a chance to choose your seminar topic keep the following things in mind.

a. Your interests: Choose a topic that you are actually interested in. Trust me when I say it, your passion for the subject really matters especially if it is a research project. Because there will be times when you face difficulties and you feel that the project won't be completed in time. Being passionate about the topic helps you to concentrate better. It will also help you getting better results, not just for the project but also in your career.

b. Feasibility: are all projects feasible? No definitely not. Even if you are deeply interested in a topic that project it may not be possible to finish it the timeframe given from the school or college. You have to find a topic which you like and at the same time can be completed in the given timeframe.

c. Novelty: Do a project or seminar on new ideas and latest technologies. Do not try worn out project ideas. Make sure that your topic interests others as well, you should be able to deliver them some new knowledge.

d. Experience: Choose a topic from an area you are familiar with. If you have some background knowledge in material fabrication you can choose a topic involving that, like making a structure or a working model of a car or something like that. Your background knowledge in the subject comes in handy in difficult times.

Some practical tips:1. Work on some common keywords in your trade.2. Search for the availability of those topics in libraries and internet.3. Choose the topic which has more availability of information, but if you feel that another is better don't hesitate to choose it.4. Then further modify the topic and bring some new ideas to it.5. Discussing your topics with others can give you more insight.

Once the topic is selected the difficult part is over. You can then concentrate on the project.
